Compost in the Garden
Experimentation is such a wonderful thing. Wayne Hackney's trial with
lighting for his garden was far ahead of its time. There were several other
"advances" related to pumpkins that should also be mentioned. I can recall a grower who
put so much organic matter into his garden that the temperature of the garden
rose and in effect it became a huge compost pile. Nothing grew in the heat. I
am wondering how much organic material was added to end up with this result?
Also there was this guy who came up with the idea for the "pumpkin boat"
later to be "sailed" in the middle of Central Park in New York City. This grower
also has been known to wear a tuxedo to weighoffs. If this grower will correct
me if I am wrong, identify himself and include his address, I have a great
hat I want to send him to wear with or instead of the tuxedo.
