RE: Poetry Contest

I vote for Dennis' poem! Here's my short entry...

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Pumpkins are orange,
I hate poems that rhyme!

Hello Kathy

Ok here is my entry I hope you like it

Dennis

Someone started a poetry contest
It is about pumpkins
So I'll give my best
I mean I know about Pumpkins
The hard work the sweat
Finding the split
The heart break you get
Cucumber beetles, the aphids, and mites
Mosaic, Verticillium and other bug bites
Walking through vines
You check it out twice
You look for stem splits
Check pumpkins for mice
The spraying and weeding
The tilling and pruning
The blisters and band aids
The lack of spouse spooning
Your neighbors complain
Your yard smells of sewer
You just smile and laugh
You know its manure
I almost forgot to mention the part
Where you grow a giant pumpkin
And grow warmth in your heart
I can grow pumpkins
I grow them allot
But one things for sure
A poet I'm not
