Pumpkin Poetry entry 1

Amazing Great
(Can be sung to the tune of Amazing Grace)

Amazing great how sweet the seed

For a middle-aged grower like me

Mr. Checkon, I reckon

You9re getting a call and a bubblized S-S-A-E.

Through yards of soil, sprains and strains

Out toiling in the sun

A pumpkin seems taller, now that Ibm smaller

And two vertebrae now are one

May heaven help me grow a beast

In my 10 X 20 foot plot

I hope to measure, my great golden treasure

With more than that yardstick I got.

And when I can see one thousand pounds

(Or maybe even more)

All will be hit-up for use of their pick-up

(Hopefully four by four).

Amazing Great how sweet the ground

Where once your fruit-ness lie

I was besotted when I found you were rotted

Now you9re not even good for pie.
