Okay, here is a weird take. I am going to predict my final weights for my
pumpkins next year by site. Yes, I do have lots of time on my hands to
contimplate such things, but I also do think about why the chicken crossed
the road. He did it to poop in my pumpkin patch.( paid it five bucks)
Reminds me of a joke, Why don't roosters have sex, Well they have to use
thier peckers to eat with. Now that was a direct quote, so nobody sue me for
being dirty now too.
Anyway, Here it is....
Site #1 The #598 Hester 97, Nice big plant. Fruits long and flat, but big.
Largest pumpkin #634.
Site #2 The wildcard, #900.5 Lions 94, As predicted, this squash seed set
pumpkins, top weight #504.
Site #3 The #909.5 Lloyd 96, This plant had the big early #789 estimated
that went down in early Sept.
Site #4 The #792 Holland 92, This plant did much better than the #827 I
planted in 97. Largest Pumpkin #736.
Site #5 The ##627.5 Hester 95, This plant did much like expected. large,
thick walled pumpkins. Wow, who would of thought a 931 would get but second
place in my garden this year.
Site #6 The ##915 LaRue, Did well, lost largest fruit in late Aug. Its
estimated weight at time of split, #677.
Site #7 The #910 Nelson 94, The mother of the #627.5 never ceases to amaze
me. Although the stock is getting old, it is obviously still good. It took
some work holding this one together, but the nasty stem split never reached
the core. I am glad this went over chart by 73 pounds, otherwise i wouldn't
have gone over the half ton barrier. The largest fruit in the patch, 3rd in
the world behind the LaRue #1132 and the Anderson #1081 its the Hester #1077.
Wishful thinking goes a long way.
Take Care all,
Brett The Pumpkinguru
