Richard:
The long term value of a pumpkin is the price of compost, a couple of bucks
per bag. The cost of a pumpkin is around 35 cents per pound, unless it is
real big and then the price per pound goes down. Of course that's a retail
price and not a growers price, which is 50% less. The long term value of
justice is something constructive, not always monitary, not always
punative, but should be an education!.
Suggest the pumpkin-napper turn your compost pile a couple of times, that
should be worth a couple hundred dollars worth of labor. That is of course
if you are composting for a big pumpkin next year. And, it should teach
'em the true value of a big pumpkin - it is a lot of hard work.
If you make the kids pay cash - they get off way to easy
Remember next time
THE BIGGER YOU GROW 'EM THE HARDER THEY ARE TO STEAL
