Brock and others
I don't have all the scientific information to explain these happenings,
but I do remember learning once that certain nutrients that are in excess
in the soil can cause deficiencies (or rather unavailabilities) of other
nutrients. Unavailabilities is the new word for the day.....anyway I
remember in particular that Phos in excess can create deficiencies in some
micros like zince and magnesium. I don't remember exactly, but somehow
the excess phos would bind more readily to exchange sites on the soil
particles and prevent others from being availiable.
I hope this helps a little. I've long since flushed all the scientific
garble that explained it all, but I have it on file though and would be
happy to dig it out if someone had a specific question.
Have a good one,
Rick
