Re: Virus?

Thanks Tony,
At least it is moral support.
I will post this on the main list hope you don't mind, maybe some will be
able to help.
Last year all my tomatoes died prematurely, it
started in one patch and spread through the whole lot from the bottom up. I
discussed it with experts who suggested it was a virus. I did have white fly
at that time and if the white fly is a vector for the spread of the virus
that could explain things.
It sounds like Wendy hasn't had problems yet.
I have found that only the growing ends of the vines are affected, the large
leaves are very healthy. I thought this could have been because I sprayed
them for white fly but the new leavs wer not protected, but I may be kidding
myself. The problem looks more like a virus than a fungal problem but I have
given them some Mancozeb anyway - can't hurt.

Stewart, My leaves went brown and crisry around the edges
and went dark green like they where really old. Then they
went spotty and developed holes after a week of worry I
sprayed with manzoceb, after talking to John Mac
(that's what I'm gunna call him from now on) I figured the
same as him-Alternaria Leaf Spot.
I did see the white fly and leaf curl bit, no mention of how to
treat it, maybe I have that.......?
OH......OH... The white flies are on all my cucurbits and tomatoes.
My tomatoes are curling up to, maybe it is a virus!
Might be time to step back and think about this.
The pumpkins, cucumbers and gourds are much healthier
now that I have sprayed.
I have sprayed the tomatoes with copper sulphate spray.
I'll see how they go.
And I spray every third day for white flies.
I have NEVER sprayed in my life.....I guess I must be turning
into an American.
Have I helped?......I doubt it.
