Re: New Grower..needs help

Kirk,

I am a first year grower so I will leave the advice for the more experienced, but I do know of an excellent book (two actually) :"How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins ( I & II )"  by Don Langevin.

If you haven't already, you may like to take a look at these sites, they are great starters.

Objet : New Grower..needs help

My family is having a giant pumpkin growing contest next year..We are all in
the central N.J. area..I would like to learn as much as I can before
planting..Some questions that come to mind: How big of an area do you need for
your plants...Can you plant in say a 6' x 6' area and let the vines run out
onto grass..How much sun is required (ie. full sun or part shade)..Soil
preparation, fertilization methods, what seeds are recommended, etc...Is there
a good book on a the subject..Any and all help will be appreciated...Thanks,
Kirk
