Re: Seed Questions

After carving my 120 pounder I have some basic and some weird questions to
ask:

1. I have some "weird seeds". They are differently colored or a non-
traditional shape. Should I try these for "different" outcomes?
If they are white, they're most likely no good. If they are just odd shaped, the outcome should not differ.
2. I grew some hybrid prizewinners next to my AG's, what can I expect for next
year?
They most likely cross pollinated. You have a likely chance that they will be smaller next year.
3. Do larger, fatter seeds mean a better pumpkin producing plant?
Probably not.
4. Do all seeds have the same genetic blue print, or they all different?
If you mean all seeds from the same pumpkin, they basically have the same genetics.
5. Has anyone done a study to see if seeds closer to the stem of a pumpkin
produce larger fruits?
It seems that about 10' from the stump is best.
6. This is really weird......Has anyone thought of growing AG's next to a pool
or pond? Just think if the vine could be suspended above the water.......the
pumpkin could float and expand perfectly. You could even have a support system
under the water! Hmmmmm......................I might have eaten too much
halloween candy!
You'll have to be the first to try that one. Good luck.
