not twins ?

Scott, I think only Mother Nature could answer about all those crosses. I
live a half mile from Boyer Park, Wa. Our elevation is around 800ft. We
are located in a small side canyon on the Snake River, about 20 miles west
of the Idaho border. This season we had more than 60 days over 100º. Alot
of those were up close to 110º. Some nights were in the 80º-85º range. My
plant can handle the heat, no wilt down if stems are buried and ground is
moist. I mulch with newspaper and the weeds I pull in the area. The heat
does not seem to bother the pollination but they will abort if I don't
cover them. Both covered pumpkins grew 30days then turned to orange. One
was 160lb Ott, the other was around 250lb Ott. I think next year I will
try to cover the pumpkins with rigid insulation, reflective side out, to
control the temp in the pumpkin area. If I use 4X8 sheets I don't think
I'll have mold problems, it could be opened at nite for cool down. Have
fun, Roger
