Soil tests

Hi everybody,

I followed with interest the 'soil test' messages and was wondering the
fact if there are some 'simple tests' ('grantfather tests') that
already indicate some level of calcium, PH, .... (whatever that could be
interesting).Or is it mandatory to pass some soil samples to a lab.

I also has another 'partical' question. I plant 'mais' (corn ??)
previous year on a piece of my ground. Is it interesting to plant AG's
onto that place? Or does the mais (corn) and AG needs the same kind of
nutritions. In any case what is a good combination?

Hopes the questions are interesting enough to be answered.

Bye,

Olivier Puffet
