Re: GPC does not promote this sport

Dear Wayne,

This is a response to a REALLY old post (7/6/98), but I was wondering
when you think these lower site fees might kick in. This year in Sioux
Falls each of the 4 major participants in our GPC sanctioned weigh-off
kicked in $125 to make up that fee. We have been hoping that by being
sacntioned we'll attract more entries. Not working yet. We may have to
drop sanctioning entirely or switch to the WPC which has sanctioned a
nearby small event in Iowa for no fee. Has the GPC ever considered
lower fees for smaller events like ours, or maybe having a "per entrant"
fee instead of a "per site" fee? $10 - 20 per entrant would pay for
plaques and prize money I'm sure, and each site would bear a cost load
proportionate to its size. You know, small sites like ours that have
little chance of national prize money feel frustrated -- I mean the GPC
doesn't even provide a cheap ribbon for 2nd or 3rd place! After kicking
in that $125 I've got to go buy my own ribbon if I want one -- geez! :-)

What do you think?
