pH Too High?

Ken,

I would leave your pH right where it is at (7.2). At a pH level of 6.8-7.2
all of your soils nutrients and micronutrients are available to your plant,
providing they are properly balanced. The pH in my patch that grew the 977
was 7.2. If you have just added a large amount of organic amendments chances
are the pH will naturally fall over the course of winter. The addition of
nitrogen will naturally lower the pH but by much. As suggested sulfur is the
way to go but I really don't think you need it. For about $14 you can pick
up an electronic pH meter. I have found mine to be extremely accurate in
comparison to the lab tests. You might want to pick one up and keep an eye
on the pH over the winter! You can always add a (little) sulfur 60-90 days
before planting. This is about how long it will take before you see any
reaction of the pH, depending on temps. Do not put it on just before you
plants!

Chris Andersen
