I have found that some of you would like to post a reply note from the
archives. In my review, I found one browser is able to do the task with
little work.
If you would like to reply to a post via the archives, I strongly recommend
you use Netscape. Here is the process.
You need to be subscribed to the mailing list and only that email address
will work in this process. If you sign on with more than one email address,
then this process will work. I have three addresses.
In your Netscape mail program, turn off you html mail replies.
Go to the archive pages http://www.mallorn.com/lists/pumpkins
Select a month and a message.
On each page you will see this type of heading.
* To: <pumpkins@mallorn.com>
* Subject: spelling bee
* From: "person" person@ person.com
* Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 23:18:17 -0500
* Content-Type: multipart/alternative;boundary="---
* Reply-To: pumpkins@mallorn.com
* Sender: owner-pumpkins@mallorn.com
-With your mouse, select or double click on pumpkins@mallorn.com
-Now you should see a new email message window appear.
-On this new window, will be a sortment of buttons on the top and the one
which we are interested in is the QUOTE button.
-Press the QUOTE button.
-What should of happen is all the data from that home page would of been
copied onto the new email message window.
-Now look for the subject and CUT/COPY and paste it into the subject line
area on your email message window.
-Take you mouse and place it in front of the subject heading and type RE:
-Why? Because you are replying to the message.
-GO to the body of the email message and remove anything you do not want to
send with your reply.
-Now type your response to the message and hit send.
That is it!
IE is not user friendly enough to use this process. There is a way, but it
is to time consuming to use.
