Re:LIVE _ FROM SQUASHBORER LAND USA!!!

Rocky: I spoke to Jerry Brust from Purdue University several months ago on,he's
the authority on the SVB
I asked him if the SVB would be able to get through a light insect barrier such
as REMAY floating row cover, and he said no. The idea here was to cover the
exposed areas of the vines with floating row cover up to but no over the
leaves, maybe use a twist tie to hold them on the leaf stems? you must also
protect the bottoms so the adults cant crawl under the REMAY.
Once the vines are covered by soil or REMAY then there will be less area to
inspect for SVB eggs and to spray.
I've noticed that a favorite place for the SVB to lay her eggs are on the ends
of the vines right where the vine meets the soil and starts to curl up.

Food For Thought for the long winter.
