remay is a very lightweight screen type cloth made for keeping insects
away.
i have heard from someone who did use it this year to cover exposed
vines
by just placing it over the vine loosely then burying the edges in the
soil. no
vine borer problem. this can help at the ends of the vines too. however
at the ends you have to move the remay every couple days. it adds to
your time taken to bury vines but works well. the main thing is to keep
the borer moth from having access
to the vines. they like the underside of the vine no matter where they
can reach it.
i watched several this year in my patch just to see how they operated.
they always crawled down under the vine. almost always at a leaf vine
junction. hope this helps
