I stand behind what I said, the sand will help, I also
agree that that organic matter is great at changing soil
physicaly. But the sand will perminantly change the clay,
changing it eventually to silt if enough is added,
improving drainage and tilth. Both sand and compost will
improve clay greatly, you'll eventually not need to add
sand though, as the soil changes it brings are perminant,
compost additions are endless.
