Paul,
The Guiness Book of records is not a ruling authority or sanctioning body
for any pumpkin organization that I know of.....certainly not the GPC. They
write a book for the entertainment of the people that buy it. They may have
rules of their own, as to what they call a pumpkin but this has little to do
with anyone else. Some people like the idea of appearing in their
book......some could care less. The WPC has their rules......the GPC has
their rules. Many of the rules are the same, some of the rules might be
slightly different but the Guinness people have no say in the affairs of
either club to my knowledge. I doubt if they have any interest in being a
sanctioning body for either club. Ray, Hugh and Howard have corresponded with
Guinness from time to time on matters of what is and what is not a pumpkin,
but again, this is subject to debate. The color question has always been a
royal pain from time to time.
