Hmmmm. I don't know who developed the lumina or baby boo varieties, nor how
they were developed. My personal vote would be no they're not pumpkins,
because I believe in the "pumpkins are orange" standard. I would say they
are fun and well suited to the halloween trade because they can be painted
and may be traditionally pumpkin shaped, but fail the definition of pumpkins
based on color. A pure white giant curcurbit I would personally classify as
a squash.
