Well, what exactly is "done"? As far as I know most plants don't
spontaneously die by any self induced means, but are usually killed by some
external factor. I have already heard of "clones" (vine cuttings) from old
AG's sent off to another hemisphere to grow entirely new plants. It seems
most indeterminate vining plants are like this, and cold theoretically live
forever. I sent some tomato seedlings earlier this year to someone in Hawaii
(Hey Alan, how are they doing now, by the way?!), and last I heard they were
over 8 feet tall and still growing!
Of course with an AG the prime pumpkins will be on the main or secondary
vines, since most likely the third and fourth, etc., will keep getting
tninner, and the taproots probabyl can never really replace fully the main
root system. Although, I heard of some pretty big ones grown from "cut"
plants on vines with taproots alone.
