Qualifications ?
Bill, I am aware of Gerry and Larry's effort all year long and have been
following it on the list. They are gracious champs that will do our sport
good and I wish them the best in the years ahead. My recomending Spray &
Grow is in an effort to inhance what they are doing. The growers have been
saying that they feel repeated growth on the same area is wearing out the
soil. Alot of the minerals in Spray & Grow are not in other supplements or
fertilizers. None of the others are formulated specifically for increased
fruit and flower size by increasing the efficency of all the processes
going on in the plant all the time. This product also helps with blossom
end split with increased calcium absorption thru the leaves as well as
roots. I did not realize that I had to clear any info thru you and it
would be unfair to Spray and Grow to measure it by pumpkin size. Last year
I had a 260 lb along with over 90 days of 110º with 90º+ nights. This year
I had a 186 lber from Welty seed that was polinated 8/15 dispite me getting
a little heavy on the fertilizer. If you are think to humble me with how
small my pumpkins are your barking up the wrong tree. I not growing for
anything except personal best, which right now stands at 275 lbs. What I
am growing for is developing a strain that could be used to get you guys
past the 1500lb barrier. Also to keep you advised with input on ways to
improve plant functions. In the 24 years I've been growing it turns out I
have the cleanest strain available because of cross breeding in the sport.
Mine has been self or sibed for 15 generations. The pumpkin size on my
strain was below 100lbs due to pollination in Sept. which was due to me
breaking the growing points at just the wrong time. On my strain the Spray
and Grow gave me 2in main stems and 24 x 24in leaves. Can't forget I also
had 22in tendrils. I also had my first Dill ring on the 186 lb. I am also
a plant person as well as college trained in plant sciences. If you want
to know how to kill pumpkins I'm also licensed to apply restricted
chemicals. I'm not trying to take anything away from Gerry and Larry.
What I am trying to do is overcome what I feel are the genetic limits of
the material we are working with by increasing the chromosome number. Bill
are you sure you don't want me to contribute? With any luck on my part
Gerry and Larry will be growing my strain in a few years. Roger Swalley
