   Roger.  Virus can't live alone.  They take over their host's DNA and 
"program" it to replicate the virus and not the original cell.  By their 
very nature they invade the DNA from the get go.

From what I have read over the last few days I thinkl some virus can make
it into the cellular structure of the plant and be along side the
chromosomes.  I haven't seen any evidence yet of direct invasion into the
DNA. Some of the reasearchers are talking about the possibility of chemical
influence by the virus on cell functions. Roger
