I had the same problem last year with a high ph level after adding copious
amounts of composted manure I had bought from a nursery. As it turns out,
the nursery was adding lime to their compost to help it break down quicker!
Also, some stables add lime to the sawdust shavings to reduce the manure
smell. Moral of the story : before adding large amounts of ANYTHING to your
soil, test it first!
By the way, I support you Duncan 100%. Yours is a thankless job. Thanks
