Rotting fruit.....

For the past 4 (or so) years, I have had healthy, vigorous plants that
produce pumpkins, which initially start growing at a rather fast rate and
then stop when they reach probably 15+- pounds. They stay this size for 1-2
weeks and then they shrivel up and rot. In past years I just contributed
this to hot dry conditions. This year was very wet and never got above 92
degrees. Yet the same thing happened. Does anyone have any ideas on what
could be causing this? I plan on moving my pumpkin patch next year to see
if this makes any difference. I sure hate to do that since I have the soil
built up beautifully, with many years of soil ammending and conditioning.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
