RE: NEW WORLD RECORD!
Hi Ray,
Chris again. I meant Clarence, not Collins. I'm getting my back east sites
mixed up. From what I heard Dave's pumpkin was in good shape. He wasn't
sure about what the HMB competition would bring and if it had taped to be
1160 or more he was going to fly it out to California and drive home in a
new Ford. He apparently wasn't willing to take on that expense without
being reasonably sure it would be a would be a new record. He wanted a
little more margin for error with the OTT measurements. I got to meet Dave
last year in Canby when he visited our site there and then went to HMB.
He's a nice guy from what I can tell and I'm sure he's feeling on top of the
world right now. Kirk Mombert pumpkin on Saturday taped out to be 1030 but
ended up being nearly 100 lbs. light for it's size. They had weighed Joels
first because it appeared to be the smaller of the two. Kirk said he's done
growing orange ones. They don't weigh enough. I'm still waiting to hear
how things went down south. I hope someone will post the results soon, but
they're all still probably having too much fun to get online with it.
