The Half Moon Bay Weigh-Off has been around for
awhile.
Here is an excerpt from their website:
"The world’s largest gathering of giant pumpkins and
their fanatical growers congregate to butt gourds in
the 27th Annual Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off –– the
Heavyweight Championship in the Pumpkin Capital of the
World –– Half Moon Bay, California."
Maybe not the oldest but the biggest on the West
Coast.
