I must protest! I noticed
the squash category only has a $100 first prize. This can be seen in contests across the board. I realize people are looking for
orange, but if I grow a 1000# squash and take it to a weigh-off as the largest
fruit, I would be pretty upset if someone with a 900# pumpkin won ten times
what I won! (These are fictional numbers for the sake of argument!) Why can’t
we set up the prize money for the biggest FRUIT? Would this truly lead to withdraw of sponsorship for prize
money? Would anyone be terribly
hurt by this? I know it would have
eliminated some controversy in Ohio last year. Why can’t
we all just get along? I would
appreciate feedback on this idea for myself and other ‘greenies’ on the list. -Gus -----Original
