Official or not????

I belong to a small group of growers who have been competing for many years.  Each year we write down the weights of all pumpkins after they have been weighed.  The scale we use is a shipping / freight scale that is borrowed each year from the same company.  This scale is periodically calibrated and is accepted as accurate by, UPS, USPS, and local freight companies.  There are typically about 20 people present during our weigh-off, and all (well, at least most) of them are reputable people.  This annual event of our club is always held on the second saturday in October.  We do not have any affiliation with any recognized Pumpkin Associations.

The biggest pumpkin any of us has grown is a little over 300 pounds, and we use only Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds....................I said we were growers, I didn't say we were good at it!

So the question is:  Can we consider our weights to be "official"?
