With only a few days to go until weigh off I have
been doing battle with what I thought was a squirrel but now believe to be mice
in the patch. I noticed some chewing on a pumpkin and immediately thought
of the squirrel that had been busy with the sunflower seeds. I found a
spray which was labeled a deterrent for squirrel and raccoon so I picked up some
to give it a try. It was dark when I had time to spray so I sprayed the
ground around the pumpkins and sprayed some on the sides of the fruit and a bit
on the top where the chewing took place. In the morning when I
went to ckeck the patch over I discovered that the cream colored fruit had
developed orange patches where I sprayed it. Is there a category for
spotted fruit. I have heard of people using oils and wax to enhance the colors
but I think this stuff went overboard. I guess I should be thankful that
it brought out the orange color and not a pink or purple. My question is are
there any regulations about what can or can not be applied to the
surfaces. Thanks for any info and good luck to all at this weekends
weigh offs.
