Thomas,
We
have a GPC sanctioned weighoff in Republic, MO. Just outside of
Springfield in SW MO and would welcome you and your daughter. It was an
off year for us in pumpkins, the largest was 199 lbs. But, we did weigh a 190
lb. watermelon.

LIST
Hello my name is Thomas Hathorn and
I am new to the List and to Growing Giant Pumpkins. I have a daughter by the
name of Tiffany that has been online and chatted with some of you. Tiffany
is 16 and is going to be growing giant pumpins next year. I have been
reading everything I can to learn what I can to help her. There are not many
Pumpkin Growers around these parts let alone Giant Pumpkin Growers. Seems to
be something new for a lot of people I have talked with. I have been giving
Tifanny advise on what I have learned in getting her Seeds for next year and
she has been really helping in getting her patch ready for next year. She says
that she is going to grow the Oklahoma State Record next year. I have been
thinking about getting her a membership in one of the Pumpkin
Assocations. The question I have been trying to answer is if she grows a
Giant Pumpkin that has any size to it and is a member of an Association, does
she have to travel a long ways off to a weigh-off? I have not found any that
is close to our area and that might explain why there are not any growers that
are in this part of the USA that grow Giant Pumpkins. It seems that there
is a very high lack of interest in growing Giant Pumpkins around these parts
because you do not see very much about weigh-offs and the sizes they produce.
For my part I am going to try growing Giant Watermelons next year and see how
good I can do.
I wish to thank everyone for
there time in letting me get my two cents in....<;-)
