Re: Giant Marrow

  Yo Alan,
Marrows will cross with some pumpkins, but alas not with AGs. We
cook marrow by cutting off the rind and then cut the marrow in half
lengthways and scoop out the seeds. This is then filled with minced or
chopped meat and maybe a couple of veggies..peas and the like or a few
peppers and the two halves put back together...wrapped in aluminiun foil and
cooked in the oven and served like a pie....tastes wonderful.
My marrows average about 70-85lb. A grower friend
broke the world record a couple of years back with a 135lber..took two of us
to carry it. Hey I have some seed if you need any...but not off the 135lber.
On another matter...the seeds you sent me last
year..A friend grew some from ( I think)400+or-..480Reynoldsx1056
Stellpflug..and had two huge orange orbs pollinated about 18" apart and they
pushed eachother away as they grew...one weighed 495lb and the other was
505lb...and he never fed the plant once.

    Alun
