Martin,
Great job on those pumpkins. A little extra German Beer would have pushed
it into the 800 range. Anyways, I have found cow manure to be much
better. The horse manure tends to make the soil fluctuate too much in
moisture holding capacity. The soil will go from one extreme to the other
if too much horse manure is used. I observed with cow manure the soil
will hold moisture better and the amount of nitrogen usage will be less
using the cow stuff.
Bill Sadowski, only my observation.

>Hi,
Now, as the weighoffs are over I am already planning for the next growing
season. I would like to add some manure to my soil this fall in addition to
a
cover crop of winter rye. But I am not sure which type of manure is best
for
giant pumpkins. I have available cow and horse manure. Which of them is
better
and which will break down quicker? What do you think? What is your
experience?
Thank you very much,
Martin Reiss
