Re: Ottawa St. Lawence Growers Association - Important Notice

Sorrry to hear, I thought that was one of the strongest of all associations. That happens, no one to
pick up the flag, ones there tired or discussed & willing to throw in rag. Hey!  maybe some one will
pick up the flag & continue on. I believe this is a problem in a lot of areas which opens up a whole new
discussion. I personally find it hard to accept that the OSLAGA went down, Maybe Bruce, with support
you would consider taking another look. ?????? Bill Van     P.E.I. Record holder & member of OSLGA

It is with deep regret that we must inform you that the Ottawa-St. Lawrence Growers Association  will not be continuing into next year. This past year we had looked for members to serve as directors of the organization but no one was able to continue.  We would like to thank all of the growers who have been members over the past 10 years.  We would like to thank all of the growers who supported this organization through their donation of seeds.  Without your support, our newsletters and weigh off would not have been possible.

As the editor of the newsletter I would ask you to join me in thanking the team that has kept the organization running for the last 4 years.  Glenn Cheam, Paul McIntyre, and Art Milburn.  I would like to extend special thanks to Jim Hudson and Gary Howard who have played a key part in running our weigh offs. Thanks to Rock Rivard for working his magic on our website. In addition, I would like to thank Alan Eaton for his continued encouragement and his numerous articles written for the newspapers.  I would like to thank Howard and Danny Dill for giving us permission to collect and distribute seeds throughout years.  This has helped attract members and allowed us to promote this fantastic sport.

Over the past 5 years the OSLGA has partnered with the By Ward Market BIA for the annual weigh off.  I am happy to say that the BIA will continue to hold the GPC sanctioned event in the By Ward Market so although there will be no more newsletters, pumpkin growing will continue to have a presence in Ottawa.

PS: Anyone who has already sent in their dues for 2002 will find them returned in the last newsletter that was mailed Wednesday night.  Any that arrive after that date will be returnd promptly.
