Hi Kevin,
Congrats on growing some BIG pumpkins! I know the
feeling of losing your best to a dill ring, I had some similar experiences this
year. At least you had something for weighoff, and your 594 would have
taken 1st place if you lived in Virginia. I grew up in Pasadena, so I know
the kind of growing conditions you are dealing with in SoCal. It amazes me
that pumpkins can be grown that big in CA heat.
I would love to get some seeds from whatever you
can spare. I would be happy to send some of mine, although they do not
contain the best genetics. My best, 636 Saylor EST. was from a selfed 600
Desrosiers 200, which was from a selfed 835 Maxymillian 1999. The pumpkin
was still growing on day 71 when it split across a groundhog-inflicted wound. My
552 from the same plant went down due to a hidden dill ring split. It was
my fastest growing and probably the harder loss for me, since I expected the
636's wound to get the better of it sooner or later.
Oh well, if you'd be willing to part with a few
seeds I'd appreciate it. It sounds like you've got some good genetics
there. Let me know if you'd like some seeds or just a bubble
pack.

Subject: sorry its been a while
List I
have been having some serious problems with my computer hopefully everything
is OK now.... Now in to happier things. To all of you that
are interested in seeds I will have seeds available from my pumpkins/squash in
the next few weeks. If you are interested here are the descriptions
703 Smith 01* EXH "The Gift" 547 Kournikakis 00 selfed which
is the 935 Lloyd selfed. 260 square foot plant with 137 leaves. Strong small
plant that didn't spend much time doing anything but making a HUGE squash.
Dark green a real show stopper at Elk Grove. There are a good amount of seeds
but due to its rarity this has been a highly requested seed. If you are
interested in planting it I would love to share seeds with all of you. about
10 germinated in the squash so I guess I was lucky I got them out when I did..
758 Smith 01 EST "the Flying Dutchmen" 986 Hester* X 723 Bobier.
VERY limited seeds. It popped five holes in a hidden dill ring at 646 lbs EST
and after I treated it grew at a good pace till last Sunday when it rotted.
Many of the seeds germinated and I have a few left. If you are interested I
will send one with every request for the other seeds till there gone.
Now here is the rest of the pumpkins I have but will not collect
the seeds till Halloween.
594 Smith 01,791 Glasier (567.5
Mombert self and sibbed) X 723 Bobier. Nice pumpkin good color and smooth
skin. Pepper shaped, Thing was I cut off the fertilizer and water about a
month and a half before I cut it off to take to Elk Grove. This could had been
a biggie but I made a rookie mistake and thought the stem was cracking so just
backed off (there was nothing wrong with the stem come to find out).
Not too sure how many seeds I will get out of it but if you are
interested I will send a few along with your request if there are any.
I will also have some seeds from my two 791 X 791 Glasier
pumpkins that tape out around 375 lbs. Let me know if you will be interested
and I can ship them along also.
I would love to hear from
those of you that are interested in seeds. If you have any seeds to share with
me please just send an E-mail to me and reserve your seeds then when your
seeds are ready just put them in the bubble pack OR let me know what you have
and I will send a bubble pack to you with my seeds and you can mail back yours
!! what ever you want to do !!! My seeds will be done some where in late
November so I will be taking requests and holding bubble packs till they are
done, just let me know if you are interested so I can save a few for you..
Thank you all very much and I hope all of you have a wonderful winter and GROW
EM BIG NEXT YEAR.........
