Cindy: If you measure your pumpkin on a daily or weekly basis you will
quickly see when it stops growing. Then it is up to you when you want to
pick. I like to get the pumpkins out of the garden to allow cleanup and the
planting of a cover crop before it gets too cold. Just make sure you don't
sit the pumpkin directly on cement as this speeds rot.
I am curious about using petroleum jelly to extend the life of
the sculpted pumpkin. Right now I mist mine with water and cover in plastic
wrap to extend the life of my pumpkin art. Any better methods?
