I have confered with my assistant and the rule for 1st 1000 lber from
california will be as follows:
#1 the first grower that brings a legitimate 1000 lb or larger pumpkin
or squash (meeting the rules of that weigh off) to the first weigh off
will be the winner
#2 if no pumpkins meet the 1000 lb plus mark it will go to the next
weigh off and
[#3] finally if more than 1 pumpkin or squash breaks the 1000 lb mark at
the same weigh off the largest one wins.
Dear Judge Deb:
We failed to foresee the unforeseeable. What if two pumpkins at the
first weighoff weigh over 1000 pounds and ...
No. 1 wasn't chosen by anyone but ...
No. 2 was chosen by only one grower who was off on the estimated weight
by only 35 pounds? Who then gets the Girgus seed, the Houser cigars,
etc?
I won't mention any names, so as not to influence your decision.
But if any of you out there wants to try to bias our judge one way or
the other, here's your chance. How should she rule on this?
Thanks!
Kathie, still glowing from a great day among friends at Elk Grove
