Casting Pumpkins

I have auctioned off my giant for charity, but a business has come forward and asked if they can have a moulded cast of it.  Have any of you done this before as I have no idea on how to go about it. 
 
"We thought that if we could either preserve it (is this possible?), or more probably take a cast of it (plaster/resin/fibreglass) so that we could have a model of it"
 
they want to take it around to some trade shows I think, they do organics that I've been using.  any ideas anyone...
