My son came home from 3rd grade science class to inform
me that fruit have seeds on the inside, vegetables have seeds on the outside. I
questioned it in my mind but could not argue with a better explanation. So,
then, consider Tomatoes, Cukes, squash, and strawberries, lettuce, and
corn?

but on a slow list day it might prove to be
interesting:
Are tomatoes fruits or vegetables?
