I had a good pumpkin from my P&P seed last year.
Like someone previously said I made a lot of second
year mistakes this year but learned from them hopefully
and will try again next year.
My 513.7 lb. "Bubba Lou" was from the 845 Bobier P&P seed.

The
seeds I bought were from a 1048 lb AG, but I read that
some of there seeds are old and germinate slowly. Has
anyone heard of this and if so where do you find good
AG seeds?
The 1048Cox seeds should be good seeds...not old, and some people have grown the Cox seed to decent proportions. PART of the "bad rap" that P+P gets is untrue and uncalled for. Very often a first timer will buy seeds from the two main retail suppliers...Dill and P+P. They then do something wrong, forget about the seed for a while, overwater, overheat etc..>>>.all understandable newbie things<<<< but then blame it on the supplier when they don't germinate. You should be safe with any number-name-year seed if its only a few years old....its the unnamed, unnumbered or non-wieght given seeds that you dont know how old they might be. Forget about hardware-store seeds...a whole different world.
That said, quality world record potential seeds can be found at places like P+P, and Howard Dill's and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them at all. Great seeds are often offered up here on this list for the cost of a self-addressed stamped bubblepack envelope and a promise to report back on its results. They are available for basically postage costs through Bigpumpkins.com website. They are available through seed distribution programs in many of the Giant Pumpkin Grower's Associations...where for about 15 bucks you get a variety of this years big seeds, newsletters and info packets, free entry to the wieghoffs and club tours etc....My favorite is the PGPGA , but the PNWpGA and PGV and many others do that too. Others have seed sales published in thier newsletters....all sales go to promoting the hobby and funding the club events ,wieghoffs,etc....how can you go wrong?
If you want to get the BIGGIES...the already proven and hard to get desireable ones...the club auctions are where to go. Watch this list for postings of the websites and auctions that generally start in Dec and run through April......big time desireable seeds are donated by growers to benefit the clubs and other charities...what's better than donating to a great cause and getting "THE" seed?
Join a club...buy from Dill or P+P....watch the list....Bigpumpkins.com....Club auctions....all great ways to get started..............donate to your club next year....G
