Sharpen Your Pencils
Announcing the first annual Pumpkin Poetry Contest!
Dates: Entries will be accepted through November 17, 2002.
The judges will then spend the next 10 days judging the contest, and the
winner will be announced right around US Thanksgiving Day.
Prizes: First prize will be a copy of Pumpkins Are Orange, donated by
its author, Jack Breckenridge, plus a couple of seeds from a
thousand-plus pound pumpkin and something cool from Australia.
Amazingly, the three gentlemen [Jack Breckenridge, Bob Attaway, and Tony
Hickman] who agreed to judge the entries have donated prizes.
All other prize offers will be accepted in order to reward 2nd and 3rd
place winners.
Rules: Each poet will be limited to two entries.
CAUTION - If the two entries are both pretty darn good, it may work
against the contestant by splitting the vote.
Entries may be posted to the list or to me, Kathie Morgan, at
fishrap@earthlink.net. DO NOT SEND THEM DIRECTLY TO THE JUDGES.
I have so far received entries from:
1. Cliff Warren
2. Larry Checkon
3. Dennis Houser
4. Kevin Stilley
5. Mike Stephenson
6. Dale Fisher
