Re: pumpkins and science

A few years back I tried to replicate the experience
implied by the Ironite website... if you go there you'll
notice that they show two potted plants. One with
Ironite and one without. Of course the Ironited plant
is about twice the size.

Well, I did four pumpkin seedlings with Ironite and four
without. This was in January with a grow-light. And it
worked, the Ironite'd plants did grow much larger!

I haven't been able to replicate that in the garden,
however. ;-)

Greg,
You didn't say how long a time-frame for the project or the age of the
experimenters.
Someone a year or two back grew 3 pumpkin seedlings, feeding/watering
one w/ water, one with Coca-cola, and one with milk. I remember the coke
punk got the first ant attack.
How about procuring several varieties of pumpkins - jackos, pie
pumpkins, cinderellas, jack-be-littles, big max, etc. Measure height,
width, circumference in two directions, and weight. Cut into each
(removing a section? cutting in half?) in order to measure the walls,
then try to draw conclusions on why some weigh heavier, some lighter.
Good luck!
Kathie
