Subject: Seeds Ready
My seeds from '02 are ready.
683 lbs. - 600 Desrosiers x open
555.8 lbs. - 600 Desrosiers x 1062 Rivard
519 lbs.(est) - 1062 Rivard x 1062 Rivard<Sibbed> (Developed a small
hole
into cavity)
It was a very HOT growing season this year in Virginia, with over 50
days
above 90 degrees. I had two 1062 Rivard plants and one 600 Desrosiers
plant.
The 683 (main vine) and the 555 (secondary vine) were both grown on the
600
Desrosiers which has done well for me throughout the hot Virginia
summers of
2001 and 2002. Both the 683 and 555 were the typical "blob" shape with
light
orange color.
One of the 1062 Rivard plants was very aggressive and set fruit very
easily (I
had a dozen fruit set at one point), but it developed a disease causing
white
foam to spew from the stump and so I pulled it mid-summer. Before being
pulled, this plant was used as the pollinator for both the 555 and the
519.
The other 1062 Rivard grew my 519 (obviously) , but this plant grew VERY
SLOWLY, and I had an extremely difficult time getting fruit to set. The
pumpkin had a nice round shape and a bright orange color, but stopped
growing
early and was later found to have a small hole underneath.
Seeds are free to anyone who wants to send me a SASB. Just send me an
email
at (saylor683@cox.net) for the mailing address.
