Wish you could've seen David's pumpkin - 649 pounds of perfection:
perfect barrel shape, lightly scalloped (no deep ribs), pure orange.
We had intended to take IT to Elk Grove and mine to Half Moon Bay until
Ray Barenchi called and said he thought we'd win at the Harvest Fair if
we went there. Turned out to be the right move. David collected $525,
two trophies (we get to keep one) a blue First Place ribbon and a
blue-&-silver Best of Show ribbon. We sold it direct from there for $100
to the Haunted House folks on the condition that we come get it after
Halloween so we have the seeds. They want to buy a second pumpkin from
us, either mine the Elk Grove traveler, or another of David's.
Thanks again for your kind wishes - and for introducing yourself at Elk
Grove. Wasn't that fun!
