ADVICE PLEASE

At the beginnig of this april I managed to germinate 4 seeds from a packet of
8, wich I bought here in UK, unfortunately 3 turned out to be melons!! but not
daunted my remaining plant produced one AG on the main stem approx 10 feet
from the root and 2 smaller from side shoots but on August 1st it stopped
putting on weight and I noticed that the leaves had stated to lose colour, I
then found a split in the main stem and the leaves con tinued to deteriorate
until I decided to cut my losses as it were.

The Pumpkin Weighed 207.25

My PH is 6.8,
And I have followed Henry's rules for feeding, watering and misting. there
does not appear to be any insect infestation, and roots appear strong but
shallow.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received for next year, you see I have the
BUG.
