There are several ways to make it last longer. First, keep it sprayed with
a solution of bleach. It will kill the molds and bacteria that attack the
fruit. Second, every so many days, soak the entire jack-o-lantern in a tub
of cold water for a couple of hours. This should firm it up even once it
starts getting a little soft. I am not sure what type of preservative
people use, but these are cheap and easy hints to help.

Anybody,
I am craving out my 60lb pumpkin and was wondering how do I make it last
longer. What chemical preservatives do they(store) use?
Thx,
Brian
