Long Gourds
Long gourds are not so easy to grow. I tried them and decided to stick with
pumpkins. The gourds have an unusual odor which I don't really like. I was very
good at growing the vines but not so good at gourds. I had vines everywhere.
Later I found out that they require aggressive pruning much like pumpkins. I
even tried growing them in PVC pipe to get them to be long and skinny. It
didn't work. I think I will try again next year but will be out begging for good
seed first. And thinking about it. Maybe Ray will tell us some of his long gourd
secrets.
