Re: Question

Yes Ray: You are right, I have even received them seed from you, you have
been great for the pumpkin sport & I assume the long gourd sport as well. I
guess I was just questioning your assumption that the people involved didn't
know how to measure a long gourd which I'm sure they did. I'm not sure if
they took a picture of gourd with tape, but thank's, now we know what is
required & and surly the people involved will read this & do just that.

Bill,

I haven't had the record since 1994 when my brother, Peter grew the 110 5/8
inches. What I'm saying is that with the stem included it would have
measured
118 inches or better. What you're talking is similar to weighing a pumpkin
with the pallet or skid included. I just want to know if it is a verified
measurement of the specimen without the stem included. A true WR. So, when
you
say "I'm just trying to be right", you need to try a little harder and
verify it
and not get in the mode of response you have. Was the STEM included in the
measurement? I asked a simple question and didn't expect to hear that kind
of
bull coming back at me. I lost my record in 1994. But I did have the
record
from 1990 until then. How do you think this new class for the sport you're
moving into got going? I established the variety - called "Collins Long
Gourd"
(and I would like it to be identified as such just like "Atlantic Giant" is
referred to for the giant pumpkin) after 3 crosses and 5 selections over 6
years growing the WR of 99 inches in 1990. I've sent out thousands of free
seeds
as gifts to growers all over the world. I'd just like a little respect as
originator and former world record holder. The best way to show a long
gourd is
with a measure tape next to it in a photo. Show me one.
