If you look on the Allardt page I believe you'll see that the watermelon
weight is 229 not 299. Must have been a typo?
FYI I did see this watermelon. It was very smooth with very pronounced and
uniform markings. It appears that this one came from a family of watermelon
growers. However to my surprise, I never could get this grower to part with so
much as a single watermelon seed.
Definitely not the type of attitude I've seen from the gracious pumpkin
growers. :)
