Join an internship of the heavy hitter of your choice at no pay and no
expenses reimbursed.
In order to qualify you must volunteer the week after weigh offs to put in
the leaves, manure and anything else the HH tells you
to do. During the winter make sure you are available to dig roots out from
the patch which might sap energy from next year's
pumpkin plants. Plant the cover crops of your heavy hitters choice, cut the
crop when told and till into the soil. While you are doing all of these
activities spend your evenings on the AGGC to study genetics and what seeds
you might risk your reputation
on next year. In late winter set up the germination program of your HH of
choice, do not anger him by screwing up his method of germination. While it
is still cold set up the HH choice of huts or whatever. Since you are not
qualified to put the plants of choice
in the ground, just stand back. NOW comes the fun, pull all weeds, bury the
vines as told, fertilize according to the HH instructions. If you step on a
single vine or leaf, you are fired. yada yada yada yada.
At the end of the season ask your HH if you may have a seed, if he had a
pumpkin to survive.
Just remember the seeds belong to the HH and they do not owe you a Damn
thing.
Just my opinion:
