Re: Avian Bird flu

Ray
I agree, this has become a major talk nation wide especially on the West as
it might be an avenue through the pacific flyway and as some migratory birds
cross over the pole. A couple things to remember the avian flu is not that of
avian influenza that we have had in Ca and WV and other states. This flu has
been spread through close contact with humans and birds, however could possibly
mutate to a deadlier form and last the H5N1 strain is not hardy and extremes
in the environment meaning possibly the winter in the North might be our best
barrier as is the Rockies is to the West. The biggest threat I believe as we
have become a global economy is the moving of agricultural products as well as
people. 10,000 people from the pacific rim land in California daily. With
this activity the spread of any virus can be catastrophic. We need to be
concerned but let sound science take hold and.
